Can You Keep This New Year’s Resolution?
According to a report published in Statistic Brain.com:
People who explicitly make resolutions are 10 times more likely to attain their goals than people who don’t explicitly make resolutions
I can’t say that I’m really surprised by that statistic. On the other hand, I do have to say that I was somewhat impressed by the fact that the statistical table from the same site shows that 46% of all resolutions remain in place over half a year later. Interestingly, this seems to contradict the claim made by an article in the Daily Mail which headlined the fact that the vast majority of British Adults will have given up by the tenth of January. I’ll leave it to the reader to come to his/her own conclusions on why the claims are so different, but I would like to direct the reader’s attention to another great article by David Wong on Cracked.com entitled:
As the title suggests, his article is about a lot more than any one superficial New Year’s Resolution. I highly recommend it for those who want to dig just a little bit deeper.
As always, rated “R” for questionable language and gratuitous sexual references.
Thanks…and enjoy.
Haha — I thought of you as I read the cracked article. That’s my style.
“Does that seem mean, or crass, or materialistic? What about love and kindness — don’t those things matter? Of course. As long as they result in you doing things for people that they can’t get elsewhere.”
Thanks…I think….
Essentially, as my mother said in complete conflict with the other thing she said….on the one hand, “don’t blow your own horn”, while on the other, “don’t hide your light under a bushel”
Oh well.
What I did like is the emphasis on being productive.
