One can always recognize the boss, or dominant party, because it is always the dominant one who is:
The one who can speak freely.
The one whose behavior is closely observed and emulated.
The one whose behavior is excused by his subordinates, even if that behavior is normally forbidden.
The one who exhibits behavior which in the long run provides the most chance of success.
