Will Hillary Clinton Stay On For A Second Term As Sec. Of State?
On October 15 2012 CNN reported that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton plead guilty to the media as being the person responsible for the debacle which occurred in Benghazi. (Follow link for CNN Report)
In an article published on October 16, 2012, entitled Hillary Clinton Resigns?, I suggested that her attempt to take responsibility should not be accepted as representing some magic wand that could be waved in the air and “poof” the whole affair disappeared. At that time I suggested that the act of “taking responsibility” was worthless without the accompanying letter of resignation. Although CNN published a report dated 11/7/2012 that Hillary Clinton will not continue to serve as Secretary of State for the President’s second term, the passage of time and the fact that she had already suggested her intent to leave after a four year term makes any linkage between her claim of responsibility and her resignation more than a bit disingenuous.
Interestingly, according to various reports, including this one at ZEENEWS.com,, her most likely replacement is Susan Rice who presently serves as the US Ambassador to the United Nations. Many will remember that it was Ambassador Rice who proved her loyalty to the President, if not to factual integrity, when she appeared on a number of Sunday Morning talk shows and presented what later proved to be a false narrative. How this whole affair plays out will be interesting to watch, but the one point I would emphasize is that the mantle of responsibility is not only determined by who claims it.
